I’ve always been the type of person who wants to do things on their own and likes to know how things work. This has led to a lot of playing around with things, whether it be trying to create a custom coffee mug or putting together IKEA furniture. Generally, my experiments work out pretty well, but every now and then they don’t.
My college roommate and I tried to make tacos without consulting any sort of recipe. We threw a frozen block of ground beef in a hot pan, and that is how we set off the fire alarm and ruined the only non-stick pan we had. After we cleared out the smoke, we decided to just order pizza.
I realized that although it seemed disastrous, it wasn’t really the end of the world. We had to wait a little longer to eat, but we figured out a little bit more about cooking. I’m not saying there is always a perfect way to recover from a mistake (that pan was never seen again), but generally in cooking/crafting/life there is a way to make things work out.
So just give it a go!
